Our room was lovely, clean and well looked after, with a breathtaking view. The air conditioning was a lifesaver in the Paarl heat, and breakfast the next morning was delicious, especially the French toast. The wedding food was lovely too, and guests are still talking about it. Everything from the canapés to dessert was a hit. We held our wedding at Du Kloof Lodge in Paarl, and the staff made the whole lead-up feel easy. They were friendly, helpful and genuinely invested in getting the room layout just as we'd pictured it. No request seemed too big. Christiaan and Terence, the venue coordinators, let us bring our vision to life while staying close by to help whenever needed. It felt like they cared about the day as much as we did. The room was neat right down to the bathrooms and little details. We're so grateful we chose the lodge for such an important day.

The scenery and river made for a really enjoyable day out, and the atmosphere was lovely. I'd happily visit again. Closing at 5 pm seems fair, though during the festive season they could perhaps stay open until 6 or 6:30, especially for the price. The facilities could use some attention. With so many visitors, having only one toilet is difficult, especially since people use it to change into swimwear and there are no dedicated changing rooms.

The setting is still as beautiful as ever, but I was very disappointed by my day visit on 8 January 2026, my first time back in about seven years. At R130 per person, I expected more. The toilets were smelly mobile units like the ones at construction sites, and uncomfortable to use. The parking was also much too far from the braai area. There are plenty of places offering more for R130 a person, and the drive of 1 hour 20 minutes wasn't worth it. Management, if day visitors aren't welcome, take day visits off the price list instead of advertising them and giving visitors so little value for their money.

The food at our wedding was amazing, from the canapés to dessert, and I couldn't fault the drinks either. The patio views were beautiful, and the room itself was lovely. I'd recommend Du Kloof Lodge and would definitely visit again. I stayed in luxury room 1. The hot water lasted about five minutes, then the pressure dropped. It didn't dampen the experience, though. Guests in the deck rooms and executive house said they hadn't had temperature or pressure issues.

We stopped at Du Kloof Lodge for breakfast while travelling near the Huguenot Tunnel, on our way home. It was a disappointing end to an otherwise wonderful holiday. The location and activities gave us higher expectations, but other places on our trip had treated us much better. The restaurant seemed unready for guests. The dining area looked neglected, the outdoor tables had no chairs, and the only table with chairs was dirty. Twice we were told it would be wiped, but it wasn't, so I cleaned it myself. The coffee was good, though slow to arrive. The food came much later, with no placemats and straight onto the still-dirty table. My eggs Benedict was basic and had no care put into its presentation. My partner's full house breakfast was poor: watery, unappetising chicken livers in tomato, cold mushrooms, eggs cooked much harder than requested, and badly overcooked bacon and sausage. They only provided butter knives, which made eating difficult. The owner/manager seemed to be sitting with friends, smoking and socialising while service felt disorganised and understaffed. We wouldn't recommend it for breakfast.
