There’s plenty of room beyond the bedroom, with an inner courtyard and a separate games and TV room. They also had a good supply of battery lights for a power outage. The accommodation is aging, but charming, clean and comfortable, and the host was excellent. This place deserves to be full.

My wife and I stayed overnight on 29 September 2022 and were really impressed by this B&B. The old historic buildings are in fantastic condition, and the owners are so friendly they make you feel right at home. It’s something special and different from the usual. I’d recommend it to anyone as a place worth trying.

The courtyard braai we put together was epic, and Orlando, the chilled resident cat, kept us company. That was how we managed to enjoy ourselves. It was an unforgettable stay in a way that made us appreciate the places we visited afterward even more. I couldn’t find much to redeem it beyond the old colonial quaintness.

The owners are very nice, but the rooms need a proper clean. There were spiders in the corners of the bed and on the walls.

The scenery is lovely and typical of that part of the Eastern Cape, and it’s 30km from Ado Elephant Park. The place itself was clean, but the hotel is run down and needs a major uplift. Staff were unaccommodating. It’s in the tiny ' town' of Pattison, which is a real dump.
