The garden was the only beautiful part of the place. Our room plugs didn't work, there was no water, and the rooms were dirty. The owners and staff seemed unprofessional, and it felt more like a hostel than a hotel. We checked in around 16:00, but by 20:00 we'd checked out and gone to find somewhere better. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. My score would be a big ZERO.
I love and appreciate the staff who work there, they're very pleasant. But the owners have been ill-mannered and racist, and don't know how to treat customers. I've been a regular for many years, and the recent owners have tarnished the place with extremely unprofessional, disgraceful behavior. It's fine if you're looking for a discreet place to have a drink, but the food is terrible if you want a meal. More than anything, I wouldn't spend my money here.
The new owners have made this a great hangout again, and it's much better than it was a while back. The food was great, with excellent specials, and the waiters and barlady were friendly and served us well.
I had a wonderful time at Tsar Hotels. It's a lively, beautiful place in Phalaborwa, with welcoming staff and a lovely hotel. It's also handy for getting around, beside two petrol stations and only a few minutes from the CBD. A fun spot to stay or stop for a drink.
The beef sausage at breakfast was so hard it could've been used as a toothpick. With that, chicken livers seem to be the only option. I expected more, and breakfast needs a complete makeover. Guys, can we have a bit of seriousness?
