Hudson Haven

This is a beautiful gem in the city, and my preferred place to stay when travelling. The team is friendly and the rates are fair. I'd suggest adding free aircons.

Our room was clean, spacious, and nicely decorated, and the garden was beautiful. The setting is safe and quiet, the hosts are very welcoming, there's free parking inside the property, and the WiFi is great. But even though Booking.com said breakfast was included, we didn't get any during our two-night stay. There's no aircon, and although we were told checkout was at 6 am, we left at 7:30 am.

The host was great and the hospitality here is excellent. It's a beautiful getaway in a peaceful setting, especially suited to business people travelling to make deals in the capital city. Keep up the good work.

The only reason for the 2 stars is the quiet neighbourhood. The dogs roam loose around the yard and bark at you, which is just nonsense. The place is old, from the room and bed to the linen and TV. A piece is missing from the shower door, so water drips on the floor when you shower, and there are flies everywhere. There's a mouldy smell, like the room doesn't get enough fresh air or ventilation. Breakfast was sad, too. There are much better places in Pietermaritzburg, at better prices, and I would never stay here again.
