We were on the road and just wanted somewhere to rest, so we checked online and saw the accommodation listed as available on Booking.com. We drove over without booking and got there shortly before 5pm, but the gate was shut. The woman who answered the intercom was dismissive and rude, saying they weren't taking any more guests. We understand if check-in had ended or there are rules about walk-ins, but a little courtesy and respect would have gone a long way.

A lovely, quiet escape for a couple. The rooms were clean and cozy, and we had everything we needed. I'd happily return and stay longer next time.

We had a lovely, affordable weekend at this gem three weeks ago. I liked the decor, especially the stylish bathroom, and the bed was really comfortable. It was beautiful and peaceful, too. There isn't Wi-Fi in the rooms, and even though it's self catering, we would have liked a restaurant or bar on site. I'd still definitely recommend it. 🙂

Our boys had a great time exploring the grounds safely, and breakfast the next morning in the main building was delicious. The room was beautifully set up with lovely valley views, plus a boma firepit and braai, which was a great touch. The place feels far off in the African bushveld even though it's close to town. A real treasure in Hilton, and highly recommended.
