The Green Palm Cottage

Horst, the owner, is really cool, and the place has a super relaxed feel. It's self-catering, so don't expect extra services and things like that. We wanted somewhere laid-back, and this was exactly right for us.

The shared kitchen utensils were grimy, and even the mechanics' cloth is cleaner than the kitchen cloths. The linen was dirty too, and there was no safe parking. We definitely won't stay here again. I wish I'd read the earlier Google reviews. I would not recommend this place to women travelling alone.

My husband stayed here for a business trip. It felt more like a backpackers' place than a guesthouse, and he rarely had warm water for a shower. There's no safe parking on the property, so vehicles are left on the street overnight.

The location is great, close to the blue flag beach, and the rooms are clean and well looked after. But the accommodation is more like a backpackers or commune. Some guests can be noisy and may even smoke substances. I raised this with the owner, who simply ignored me. He seemed uninterested in guests' wellbeing and more focused on making a quick buck. The kitchen is large but needs maintenance. Some pots and utensils have residue and are pretty gross to use. There's mold from a leaking tap, some chairs seem broken, and the bathroom and kitchen mats are old and wrinkled. The photos show a nice loft area upstairs, but it's abandoned and looks like it never gets cleaned.
