Riverbend Chalets

We camped with a friend and our children. It was quiet and tranquil, well, as quiet as you can expect with kids around. Horses came down to the river to drink. There’s a playground, and the campsite was clean with hot water.

Such a beautiful view, and the place feels private and peaceful. A lovely escape. We’ll come back to try canoeing next time. Thanks, Charlotte.

The campsite is right by the beach, with nice walks and a dam nearby. On a good-weather day we took the canoe out on the river. We had a great camping experience, and were allowed to bring our medium-sized dog. The braais were cleaned daily and the ablutions were spotless. We’d definitely return.

Getting back to work, I’m still nostalgic for this place and daydreaming about lying on the grass with donkey and the horses, listening to birds, enjoying the sun and taking those beautiful walks. It felt like a little hidden gem, with the kind of healing energy that lets you get away from life and find some quiet. It was a chaotic long weekend: floods, snow, people sleeping on the N3, flu season, everything. We were lucky to be the only campers there during such a bad storm weekend across the country. The weather swung between cold, sun, rain and wind, but we still had the best time and found absolute tranquility. A huge thank you to the owners for taking our caravan down and back up the steep hill so we could camp. We never would have made it with our car, and they made the visit possible. I’ll absolutely come back when I can. Thank you for such a wonderful getaway spot.
