Mountain View Country Estate

Jacques looked after us well and was a great host, respectful, humble and bright. We were a family of six with a baby, staying for two nights, and he followed the covid protocol properly. The rooms were really clean and everything felt cozy. We liked the vintage feel, which took us to another time, and the tranquil atmosphere. Having TVs in our rooms was a nice touch, and we could use the separate kitchen and dining room for meals. We drove about 700-800m to a private fishing spot and caught six fish, five Barbels and one Carp of around 3-4 kg. The ground is a little slopy, so good shoes are advisable. Once you find a fairly flat spot, the fishing is great. The braai area has benches and chairs, and my son had a blast playing on the lawns. The place is charming, with peace, views and quiet to enjoy whether you’re a couple or a big family.

The old-fashioned furniture is high quality and brought back memories of my younger days on the farm. The atmosphere is so beautiful it’s hard to describe, and anyone wanting a break from fast-paced life would love the peace and quiet here. Jacques went out of his way to help me and show me around from the moment I arrived. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys the outdoors. Johann.

The Vaal River is within walking distance, with lovely trees along the bank and a great spot for fishing or a picnic. Jacques was a kind and helpful host, and everything was clean and neat. The guesthouse is beautiful, especially its antiques. I’d go back anytime.

The bedding was clean, and the furniture is beautiful, with lots of potential here. But there’s no view, the bathroom needs renovating and has visible pipes, and privacy on the toilet is provided by a curtain. The kitchens are separate from the rooms.
