Stay at The Regency Apartment Hotel

The rooms were clean, but the hotel service was seriously lacking. Calls and WhatsApp messages went unanswered, and they seemed to be offline all the time, so we got no help. I needed a sewing kit and that was a whole problem. It felt like I’d wasted R1900, and I won’t stay at the hotel again. The restaurant is another story. The staff there were top tier, even though our waiter took forever with the order. The manager or supervisor was great, and Beverly was lovely too. I’d definitely go back to the restaurant for that service.

Our company prepaid for four guests attending G20-related meetings in 2025. One person couldn’t travel to South Africa because of a visa issue and never checked in. At checkout, the hotel confirmed in writing that roughly half of that guest’s payment should be refunded. They’ve acknowledged the refund but still haven’t paid it, making excuses and repeatedly dragging things out. They even pushed us to take credit for a future stay, which we clearly refused. It feels dishonest and completely unprofessional. The rooms also weren’t clean, with visible stains on the carpet and furniture, and the condition didn’t match the price. Front desk staff were indifferent and unhelpful as well. This hotel was recommended in connection with G20 events, but I wouldn’t recommend it to business travelers or tour groups. Avoid it if you care about your money and basic service.

The rooms themselves were nice, but the service made for a pretty bad weekend. We hadn’t realized the booking was through a separate agency, and only found that out when we arrived, which made things awkward. The agent said the room wasn’t ready, so there wouldn’t be any amenities until the next day. When the promised things still weren’t there the following day, she got really annoyed with me and was so rude. She shouted, and I felt harassed and embarrassed, to the point of getting emotional.

Room 617 was awful. The apartment wasn’t properly cleaned, the bedding looked like a cow had chewed it, and there wasn’t enough cutlery. The TV didn’t work, and the shower flooded the whole bedroom. I wouldn’t recommend these privately owned apartments even if they were free.
