We checked in at Versailles Guest House Villieria Pretoria as booked and told the attendant we'd be back after 22:00. They acknowledged that. But when we returned, the gate was locked, both listed attendants went straight to voicemail, and there was no emergency contact. We were stranded late at night, with our vehicle and luggage locked inside, and had to find somewhere else to stay. The room was unacceptable too: the carpets were very dirty and the bathroom wasn't up to standard. We formally asked for a refund and haven't had a response from the guesthouse. Bookings.com offered 50%, which we can't accept since we didn't stay at Versailles and received no customer service from them. This raises serious concerns about safety, cleanliness, and accountability. We can't recommend the guesthouse.
