I was travelling to Komani and expected to arrive about an hour before standard check-in. I wanted to change outfits, not freshen up. When I tried to discuss it, the receptionist, Lerato, said she wouldn’t debate “this” and would move my booking to another place that could accommodate my request. She did so without telling them about an early check-in, as the kind, mannered gentleman there explained when I called. He’d only been told about room availability, so I asked him to cancel that request and found somewhere else successfully. I was baffled by the behavior and wondered whether the owner knew they’d lost a booking because of a receptionist I found ill-mannered and cold. If she’s the owner, I wouldn’t be surprised, it seems typical. At least I got a refund.

The gardens are the only part that’s being kept well. Each time I visit, the place seems to be going downhill, and the guest service leaves a lot to be desired. Why not turn it into a self-watering facility? The woman at reception has the worst attitude you could expect at a front desk. A horrendous experience.

The owner is accommodating, and it works as an ideal stopover. There aren’t any garden chairs to relax in, though. For business use, the workstation needs better power points and a better chair. A single couch that can convert into a single bed should be left in the rooms.

I wouldn’t recommend this place. I called from the morning before check-in to ask a few things, but no one answered. When I arrived, I rang the bell for close to an hour without getting a response. I only got inside because someone happened to be leaving. The owner was rude, disrespectful, and condescending when I tried to raise the issues. Just a bunch of incompetent people, and the service was horrific.

Loved the place. The rondavel was beautiful, and the suite at the back near the entrance felt intimate and private. The EC morning dew and freshness were beautiful too.
