House Higgo

The food was good, and the landscaping is gorgeous. My short stay was great until the cold evening came. There was neither air conditioning nor a heater in the room. When I went to run a bath, the tub had no stopper, and staff told me they didn’t have any.

The garden and house look nice from outside, but the room I got needs work. I’ve stayed in three star rooms that were better. The website photos are misleading, with the right photographer and carefully chosen angles making the place look different from reality. I felt a bit scammed. I didn’t stay the night and lost the money I’d paid. Based on that experience, it’s not really my kind of place.

It’s a beautiful place with a lovely garden and a big pool. Breakfast service needs work, though. It was a busy weekend and only two staff were preparing the food. They were slow and didn’t write down orders, so guests’ requests got mixed up.

It’s a peaceful, beautiful place if you want to get away from city life, and we had a pleasant stay overall. Still, the room next door was noisy, including at 4am, so they should have some kind of noise policy. The eggs smelled and tasted like they’d been cooked in used oil. The bacon was dry rather than crispy, and shower caps in the bathroom would be a nice touch. There was also a bee in our room when we arrived. We asked a staff member to get it out, but he never came back.
