The accommodation was a pleasant surprise, with unusual antiques, and it was clean and comfortable. Our host Shaun was gracious and welcoming, and made us an amazing breakfast. The coffee was a real highlight. The roads there were daunting, but the place turned out to be a hidden treasure. You’ll see us again.
We had a great time, and Shawn was really friendly. All the old things he has were a treat to see. Go take a tour and have a look for yourself.
We camped in a private spot, and the fireplace made it extra special. There’s plenty of birdlife around, too. The setting is serene, with all the comforts of home, and the accommodation was clean and very comfortable. Shawn is a great host, and we enjoyed looking at all the beautiful antique cars. Highly recommended, and we’d definitely come back.
Google and Google Maps showed a room price of R511, but when I phoned the booking owner, they told me it was R511 per person. The price changed all of a sudden. They list one thing on Google and say something else over the phone. I think that’s dishonest and asked Google to remove them and their ads.
The grounds are gorgeous, with safe parking for your car, and we had a delicious braai in a wonderful setting on the property, arranged by Shawn. He also made us feel very welcome and is a gourmet chef. Every room at Night at the museum has interesting antiques, and our cottage was lovely. There’s also a vintage caravan with its own bathroom that looked wonderful. Each morning, coffee was freshly brewed in a different vintage coffee machine, and it was amazing. The breakfasts were great too. If you’re visiting Johannesburg from overseas, this is a lovely chance to enjoy South African hospitality. Thanks for a wonderful stay, Shawn and family!
