Whether you’re there for birdwatching, an overnight stop before Pilanesburg, or work with the Platinum mining companies, this is one of the best options in the Rustenburg area, if not the best. It costs about the same as the main local hotels and is a winner at that price. The road is well placed for places west and north of Rustenburg, and everything you need is there, even though it’s outside town. It’s a spotless gem in the bush. There’s a bird lookout, short hiking routes and gardens, plus rooms, beds, WiFi and backup power. The home cooked barbeque dinner is wholesome, and there are breakfast and lunch packs too. The owners and staff are friendly. It’s safe and quiet, away from city lights, with impala and other antelope around and a distant jackal sometimes calling at night. Those little touches make it feel like you’re in nature. The short gravel road from the R52 may not suit a sports car, but a normal car can manage it. The gravel road is quiet enough for enjoyable mountain or gravel road biking over several kilometres. I can’t find a reason not to give the place a 5/5. It’s currently rated 4.9 and deserves every decimal.

Marnice is a caring, attentive host, and the place is beautiful, distinctive and very welcoming. We booked the whole B&B so our three small children wouldn’t disturb guests who had come for the quiet. The location and walking paths were excellent, as were breakfast and the optional dinner. Highly recommended for a two day stop to get your bearings before heading to Madikwe or Kruger.

Thank you, Marnice, for making my wife’s and my wedding day so special and memorable. BouBou is clearly more than just your place, it’s your passion, and your staff were willing to go the extra mile. We had an amazing stay, with a lovely view, a clean and quiet setting, and service that felt friendly yet professional. This definitely won’t be our last visit.

The deck has an amazing view beside the swimming pool, and the house is lovely, with four double rooms, each with its own bathroom. It’s ideal for a family breakaway, and the breakfast was awesome. Thanks to Henry and Dorothy, who were friendly and extremely helpful.

Boubou feels like home away from home. My family loves it here, especially the kids, who enjoyed the pool and the food. My daughter also made a friend in Minky the dog, and I might steal that dog on my next visit. The garden, rooms, lounge, viewing deck and surroundings are all lovely, and so are the breakfast, warm welcome and personal touch. I strongly recommend it if you want to relax away from the concrete jungle. I could go on and on. Thank you, Mernice and team, especially the lady and gentleman who are hands on at Boubou.
