Mziki Safari Lodge

We had a great Easter weekend with our 6-year-old and 2-year-old. The Lodge is very kid-friendly, and there were loads of animals to see. Credit to the people managing the reserve. It’s a smaller hotel, which gives it an intimate boutique feel and keeps it away from the tourist machine. The facilities were excellent, the service stood out, and the staff were super friendly. We couldn’t have asked for a better family stay, and hope to come back someday.

The game drives were a real highlight. We saw elephants, a cheeta, giraffes, crocodiles, and all sorts of antelopes and birds. (The original mentions elephants twice.) Those outings made the stay especially memorable, and we’ll cherish the memories. We were there with our daughter, who is almost two, and Mziki Lodge made family life easy. They had a high chair, tasty meals for children, and a lovely playground. Nobody minded when a child made a mess, which helped us parents relax. The owner was kind and welcoming, and the whole place felt like someone’s home. The setting is beautiful, surrounded by nature, with a lovely pool and well-designed lodges. The beds were extremely comfortable, and the care put into the details was clear. Food was fantastic too: the chef made fresh, flavorful meals for adults and kids every day, and presented them beautifully. Mziki Lodge exceeded our expectations from the start. It’s a fantastic place in South Africa, and I highly recommend the lodge and its game drives. We’d love to return.

A great option for a quick family break from Joburg, about a two-hour drive from Johannesburg. I’ve stayed several times, and this was my first visit to the new rooms. They’re very nicely done, and I was impressed. The game drives were good, with plenty to see. It’s also great that smaller kids can join them. I’d highly recommend it for a getaway with children and family.

We stayed in a private Lodge, but the rooms at Mziki Lodge looked new and comfortable. The food was fantastic, and we saw lots of big animals!
