The ceiling fans worked really well, which was a relief, and the staff did try to make us feel welcome. But cleanliness was a serious problem. The shared kitchen’s microwave and oven were disgusting, so we used the microwaves in our rooms instead. The fridges were useless apart from the freezer section, and the two braai areas were very dirty. Bring an onion. There was one medium-sized pool shared by everyone, and the kitchen was shared too. Our beds were hard, we saw cockroaches, and the doors kept jamming, leaving us locked in or out. There’s no daily room cleaning at all. After three nights, the toilets, baths and showers were really dirty, so bring your own cleaning supplies. It might be a case of getting what you pay for, but cleanliness shouldn’t be optional, especially for a large group staying a few days.

We were charged more than the amount quoted when we booked two single rooms. We’d also told them the guests would arrive late because they were leaving Gauteng after 5 pm. The person on duty contacted the manager, then asked what time they’d arrive in a rude way, without even greeting them properly.

They eventually refunded us, but only after months of communication. After creating the mess, they also tried to force their own dates on us. The weekend was ruined, and they weren’t apologetic. The staff, especially the receptionist, were rude and treated clients like trash. They’re unprofessional and don’t know how to handle customers. I wouldn’t recommend this place for your sanity, safety or convenience. Horrible.

We were welcomed warmly, shown to our rooms, and then left to enjoy our privacy for the rest of the stay. The location was handy, not far from the mall, and we loved having DSTV and air conditioning in each room. We could each catch up on our favourite shows and cool off separately. There were enough kitchen utensils for everyone, and we had unlimited access to the pool. Housekeeping was satisfactory, though I think they should set a time to clean all the rooms. The cottage sometimes ran short of hot water, and I hope they fix that soon. Still, we had a pleasant, welcoming stay. It’s very affordable for large families, and I’d recommend it to anyone holidaying in NW.
