Nkambeni Safari Camp

The pool was idyllic, and from its deck we could watch hippos swimming in a pond. We wished we could have stayed longer. Nkambeni was the highlight of our trip to ZA. We were only 50 min from the Nelspruit airport, and staying within the Numbi gate meant quick park entry each morning. Our tent was even better than the photos, with a king bed, private bath, and private porch. Housekeeping swept the sand out every day, and the desk staff were friendly and helpful with arranging daily game drives. The food was awesome. I’d suggest booking breakfast and dinner in advance, as it was worth it. We especially liked the South African dishes, such as bean stews and barbecue meat. Anyone worried about eating local food needn’t be: it was safe, healthy, delicious, and professionally prepared. I definitely recommend the camp!

The spa was great, the pool beautiful, and game drives were available at all times. Staff were nice, and the facilities were fairly well kept. The entrance road off road was bumpy and not well paved for 8-10 min, but that may have been because I came right after severe flooding. A great experience overall, and beer recommended.

We came as a group, and the service was top tier. Everyone was super nice and always smiling. The tents were big and really comfortable, with room on the floor for our large luggage, though you can still hear outdoor noises, which makes sense. The pool is huge, with the most beautiful view. The cocktails were the one letdown, a bit watery and too sweet. Other than that, I’d absolutely come back.

We spent four nights and five days at Nkambeni, and it completely blew our minds. We were glad to find the WiFi had been upgraded, a golf cart was now available, and the issues mentioned in older reviews had been addressed. The tents can get a little noisy, but most of the time it was quiet, with beautifully peaceful views. The staff were lovely, and they even arranged a birthday surprise.
