The staff were friendly, and the neighborhood was quiet. I appreciated being upgraded to a suite, though the room seemed a bit run down. The couch had visible stains, and there was a really bad sewer smell in the bathroom. Breakfast was worse than at the Rosebank location, and my cup and silverware were dirty.

I confirmed my Iftar buffet booking by phone, but when I arrived just before Iftar, I was told it had been cancelled because there weren’t enough bookings. Nobody called or let me know earlier that day. Cancelling at the last minute during Ramadan without telling customers is extremely inconsiderate. It shows a serious lack of professionalism and respect for people’s time. I’ll think twice before booking here again.
I’d happily return to Hyatt House Johannesburg Rosebank. The complimentary breakfast gets a lot of praise, and the staff are friendly and attentive. It’s a good base for business or leisure in Joburg, close to Rosebank Mall, restaurants and the Gautrain station. There’s also a rooftop pool, fitness center, free Wi-Fi and parking. The spacious rooms have full kitchenettes, comfortable beds and contemporary amenities, and guests often praise their cleanliness and comfort. It’s a modern aparthotel in the vibrant, upmarket Rosebank suburb, with a home-like feel that suits longer stays. It doesn’t have the grandeur of a traditional luxury hotel, and some guests mention minor issues, including perceptions of street safety in Johannesburg. Still, it scores highly overall, around 8.1/10 on Booking.com, and has strong Travelers' Choice recognition on Tripadvisor for value, convenience and service.
It was a quiet hotel, and the beds were comfortable. I liked having a kitchenette in every room. The food is halaal, but the hotel doesn't cater for Muslim visitors in any other way. I also didn't like the artwork above the beds.
Once we finally found the hotel, the staff greeted us and checked us in quickly. The property itself is in a secure place, and it's within driving distance of the Apartheid Museum and Mandela Square. But our taxi driver thought the address was wrong and said it wasn't a hotel. The website address didn't match Google Maps or Bing, so we first ended up at the wrong place, which wasn't a good area. There aren't many conveniences nearby, and most restaurants are near or inside the mall.
