Pepper Tree BnB

The accommodation was clean, and the gardens, patio, and pool all looked stunning. It’s in a lovely quiet, leafy suburb. Ian was a lovely host, and Cathy cooked fresh breakfast each day.

The main reason I left after one night of a planned two night stay was the cleanliness. There was dust all over the bathroom, so much on the toilet that it looked like dirt, stains on the sink, a smear on the door, and a used plaster with old blood in the shower. The pillows were stained too. It was far below an acceptable standard and made for an unpleasant stay at Pepper Tree B&B. Ian, the manager, handled things very well. He apologized repeatedly and offered to move me to a better suite. I turned that down because I was coming and going for work, and cleanliness and the bed matter a lot to me. I didn't want to risk finding the same problems in another room or feel I had to inspect it later. I asked Paul, the owner, for a refund for the second night after checking out early, then followed up, but got no response. I found him unresponsive and unprofessional. Ian was the only person who showed real concern and competence, so guest issues should be handled by him.

I really liked the peaceful setting and the well kept gardens. Breakfast was generous and good, with relaxing music. The room had thoughtful comforts for cold days, including a heater, electric blanket, extra throw, and a ceiling heater in the bathroom. I was impressed and would recommend the place to friends and family. Thanks for such a lovely space, I’ll come back 👍😊 One small suggestion for the hosts: thanks for leaving a generous carton of milk, but single serve portions might be better than finding one that's already open. Also, the fabric shower curtain seemed to hold a urine smell, so perhaps another material would work better.

The pool was a lot of fun, and PepperTree was ideally placed for us to see friends and family on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Thanks, Iain, for a restful, relaxing stay.
