Rivonia Guest House

I came here for my block classes and always looked forward to returning for some quiet. It’s clean, safe, and comfortable, and waking up to birdsong is wonderful. Thanks to Alex and the team.

The rooms are nice and very quiet, and everything else was great. The Wi-Fi is the drawback. It isn’t very good, and I had trouble keeping the signal when trying to work from my work sharedrive.

Rivonia Guesthouse was even better than I expected. It’s well looked after and has a warm, welcoming feel. The staff were friendly and made us feel at home. Our room was spacious, clean, and nicely decorated, with a comfortable bed and the amenities we needed. The modern en-suite bathroom was spotless, with plenty of hot water and toiletries. The neighbourhood felt quiet and safe, parking was plentiful, and Rivonia Village was an easy walk away. I’d happily recommend it for a comfortable, relaxing stay, and we’ll definitely return.

The place itself was quiet and not bad, but the service was the worst. My husband and I had paid in full for two nights. When we arrived, our room wasn’t the one we wanted. We liked another room that would be vacant the next day, and the receptionist persuaded us to take the first room, saying she’d move us as soon as the other one became available. After packing our things the following day, we went to reception and found out that someone else had booked the room. We had no idea why our prior agreement had been ignored, and the same receptionist couldn’t explain it. We had to unpack again. Since we’d already paid, leaving didn’t seem sensible at the time. Our room also wasn’t cleaned during either of the two days, and even the cups were left unwashed. I have photos of this. Edit: The response to my review was disgusting. You should have contacted me for proof that I’d booked before replying that way. My husband made the booking, not me, so you wouldn’t find one under my name. I’ve emailed all the evidence since I can’t attach it here. I hope you delete that ignorant response. 👎
