Southern Sun Sandton

Being there for five days made the breakfast repetition hard to ignore. It was the same each morning, with no real choice of variety, and the chefs need to improve that. Still, the team were lovely, especially the woman in the breakfast dining room, Zanele, I think that was her name. She was a gem and gave great service. The hotel is beautiful and close to the big malls and everything else. I'd come back for sure.

The pool area was lovely and relaxing, and I enjoyed the view from the higher floors. Breakfast had lots to choose from, including omelets made fresh to order. My room felt warm and restful thanks to the lighting, and it was modern, clean, and really comfortable, especially the bed. They also left complimentary water and juice, and the staff were welcoming throughout. Dinner was the letdown: the fish I ordered one evening wasn't very good, so I didn't finish it. I also thought the pool shut a little early.

From 22 to 26 February I stayed at SSS, and my room was spacious and cleaned very well by Lizokazi, a lovely lady. The staff were friendly, and restaurants and recreation spots are close by. Highly recommended.

The room was comfortable and just the right size. I liked the thoughtful lighting, even down by the TV where we set our suitcases. We were there as a group, and reception was very good. Our bus couldn't get past the boom barrier to park, but the porters helped with our luggage. Breakfast was very good too, though it got crowded with so many people eating at once. Time-slot bookings or a larger dining area might help.
