We spent 10 nights here with friends and had a wonderful time. The lodge was comfortable, and Judy left a lovely welcome pack with milk, tea, coffee and homemade biscuits. We often just sat on the stoop with a book and binoculars, though the reserve is also great for walks to spot animals and birds. Our lodge faced a wild fig tree, and each morning we woke to a black-headed oriole singing.

A peaceful place to get away from city life and spend time in nature. You can sit and watch the birds, or spot animals grazing close to your room. Just beautiful.

Judith is a friendly, helpful hostess, and the welcome pack is a lovely arrival treat. The bacon is divine. The accommodation has everything you need for a relaxed stay: a fully equipped kitchen, a comfortable bed and a nice hot shower. There’s no TV or radio, so bring a laptop or use your phone if you really need that connection. I’d rather enjoy the quiet, the calls around you and each other’s company. Take a walk and you’re right among the wilderness.

The chalets are the best quality I’ve come across in South Africa. Judith gives you a lovely welcome and makes fantastic biscuits, too. It’s close to the coast, but far enough inland to feel quiet and peaceful. Walking among the giraffe and other game gives you a different way to experience wildlife. Give Pomeroy a try!

I came away from Pomeroy with memories I’ll cherish and a real wish to return soon. Every day brought something different, and a stroll around the reserve always turned up something new. I’ll remember unexpectedly coming across three giraffes in particular. If you’re up early, you can enjoy the many bird species that live here. The lodges offer a chance to slow down and let nature surround you, with fully fitted kitchens, hot showers and very comfortable beds. The welcome is warm, and there’s real peace and quiet after the hectic pace of modern life. The beach is a short drive away, and other experiences are within a couple of hours, so it’s a good base for exploring further.
