The room was spotless, and the location was great. A beautiful hotel with such welcoming staff. I’ll definitely come back!

The location is great, and the staff are friendly, polite, and hardworking. But I wouldn't call this a five-star hotel, with a few things that fell short. The breakfast had limited fruit and ham, small menu portions, and stale bread. There was just one small bottle of water in the room, and you had to pay for it, which didn't feel adequate. It’s nice that they iron guests’ clothes, but doing it yourself is often more convenient, so an iron and ironing board in the room would be welcome.

Batavia, thank you. The concierge paid attention to even the smallest details to make the stay comfortable. The accommodation was tastefully done, with all the extras in a small kitchenette, and breakfast was delicious, hot, and offered plenty of choice. I also had secure parking for my car.

The front desk staff were very welcoming, and the location is handy, just minutes from the central bars, restaurants, and shops of Stellenbosch. But I found the place's style fussy and dated: dusty old ornaments, twee furniture, an ostrich-skin couch, and those dainty dollhouse cups and teapots that looked like charity shop finds. It all felt unnecessary in a modern commercial setting. Breakfast was disappointing, with little choice and mean portions. They should have handled the power cuts better; solar panels would have made the outages less inconvenient. The canned classical or elevator music was dreadful and made the place feel like an old people's home. At about £160 BnB per night, they need to try a lot harder. Five stars? I don't think so.
