The location on Dorp Street made it easy to walk into Stellenbosch Town Center, and the hotel was great value. The rooms were spacious and impressive, many with two floors, which gave us a lovely place to relax. Facilities were remarkable, too. Gerty, the manager, was sincere, kind and helpful, just like the friendly, efficient staff. A truly exceptional stay.

The staff were helpful and friendly, and town was about a 15 to 20 minute walk away. Our room was clean, though it could use some updating. The bathroom seemed more current, but the hand basin was too small and overflowed even when we were just washing our hands. There also weren’t enough power sockets, and no USB ports.

The hotel fell well short of what I expected. Reception, security and cleaning staff were friendly, but other staff were less so. The restaurant menu disappointed, and its staff weren’t particularly welcoming, although they seemed to improve on the morning I left. Some facilities shown on the premises, including the heated pool and in-room safes, weren’t available. The walls were thin enough for me to hear the next guests’ entire phone conversation. It also costs too much compared with the sister property in Techno Park, which was better overall. The star rating should be lower.

The staff were welcoming and the service was good, and the rooms were very clean. Still, this Marriott didn’t live up to the other Marriott hotels we stayed at in South Africa on this trip. The hotel generally needs refurbishment. One person in our party had no safe in their bedroom, the pool was very cold and its filter needed cleaning, and there was a lot of road noise. The bar closes at 22:30. It’s well located for an inexpensive Uber into Stellenbosch.

We made a spontaneous stop here and really enjoyed the friendly staff and service. Wish we could’ve stayed longer.
