Afternoon sundowners by the pool were a lovely way to spend time at this old Manor House. Carol and her staff were welcoming and shared helpful tips about wine farms and restaurants. Our room had a bathroom across the hall, though there are other beautiful rooms with en suites. The bed and linen were outstanding, and we slept very well. The house is full of art and interesting momentos from all over the world, with a sense of the happy memories the owners made collecting them. It’s a fascinating place, with very high ceilings and short door frames. Thank you for a lovely stay.

I booked my February 2026 stay well in advance, back in May 2025. Then, in late January 2026, I was told the hotel couldn’t honor the reservation. Now I have to find somewhere to stay much closer to my travel date, and at a much higher cost. Worst management ever.

The staff gave good service, and the rooms were clean. Since it’s a Manor, the rooms and decor fit the place. There are dogs on the premises, which may not suit you if you’re not a pet person. It was okay overall 👌

PJ and Carol are such good hosts that it’s hard to leave this fun, enjoyable place. The spacious rooms have antique furniture and four poster beds, giving them a comfortable, cool feel. A beautiful garden and great pool round out a very relaxing stay.

Set on a generous plot with beautiful gardens and a swimming pool, this old building has been meticulously restored after the 1969 earthquake. It stands at one end of historic Church Street in Tulbagh. The main suites are roomy and have a lovely atmosphere. Make time to read by the fire, and don’t miss breakfast in the expansive kitchen. The staff make you feel at home, and there’s parking on the premises. A short walk down Church Street takes you to several places to eat and other tourist attractions.
