Isikhulu Apartments

The sea view from the verandah at number 16 Izikulu was beautiful. The Indian Ocean was right there, with just the main road between the building and the beach. We loved hearing the waves and smelling the salty air. The apartment itself was comfortable and centered around that view, with a modern kitchen, lovely kettle, toaster and microwave, plus very comfortable big leather couches. We didn't use the dishwasher. Getting in was awkward. Although the apartment was on the ground floor from the parking lot, we had to go up about 10 steps to a small landing, then down 7 more. That was difficult for elderly people carrying suitcases and cooler boxes. The inventory list we were asked to check on arrival was no use at all, since none of the items or numbers matched. We suggested the new owner make a completely new list. The oven was useless because it had no shelves that could be used safely, so we only used the stovetop plates. The air conditioners in the bedrooms and kitchen were a pleasure to have, but noisy. The residents' pool might get crowded in peak season. Monkeys were a much bigger problem. They have taken over, and you can't leave food unattended on the verandah or even in the lounge. They're dangerous and spoiled what should have been a relaxing break. This needs to be dealt with by the body corporate. The TV didn't work most of the time, including in the main bedroom. On rainy days it would have been nice to watch something. The owner needs to upgrade her booster instead of blaming the weather and location. Neighbours told us they had perfect reception all the time, so the TV shouldn't be listed as a feature until it's repaired. We enjoyed our 10 day break at 16 Izihukulu, but we'll try another location for our next seaside break.
