Ocean Gem (Unit 802) is in a prime Umdloti location. The nearby beaches were beautiful and the highlight of our two-night visit in April 2026. We also loved the ocean backdrop and the easy walk to restaurants and the Spar. Sheena's video instructions made check-in clear and streamlined. The apartment is quite dated and needs maintenance. The shower tap is very tight, the shower rose needs descaling, the sink is cracked, and the toilet seat needs replacing. In the kitchen, the stove knobs were sticky and needed a deep clean. I was disappointed by a separate R300 cleaning fee that only appeared during payment. With strict 14:00/10:00 times at the resort, I think that cost should be part of the daily rate instead of added as a surcharge. There are also many stairs between the car park and this unit. We take pride in leaving places as we find them, so we cleaned the kitchen and made the beds before checking out. Even the cleaning lady, Hlengiwe, said she was surprised at how tidy we left the unit. Great views and location, but it needs a bit of TLC to truly shine.
