The service from the booking agents was great, and the beach gate was a real plus. The beach view was beautiful and easily the best part of our stay in UNIT#28. For the daily price, we expected a much better unit. It needs a serious upgrade, and there was a bad smell that never went away. The fridge couldn’t keep our food cold, and the unit really needs air conditioning. The pool was advertised in a misleading way, since it’s at the other units. I wouldn’t stay in #28 again, though I’d consider another unit since they seem to have different owners.

Hilton and Marianna make the whole process feel effortless. The apartment was clean and comfortable, the rates were fair, and it had all the amenities. I got more information about the booking than I’ve ever received before, and the stay delivered everything promised. Thanks for the great memories 😎

I booked an apartment on Bookings.com seven months before the stay with free cancellation, but was charged right away. I told him I hadn’t expected an immediate charge and would need to cancel because I could only pay later. He said cancellation would cost R830. When I asked Bookings.com about it, he got rude and blocked me, then charged R880 to cancel. I’ve read the other one-star reviews, and it seems he gets defensive when people raise concerns and likes to block them. Be careful about getting on his wrong side. From what I’ve seen, even when you’re right, he’ll make you out to be wrong. I’m not letting this go, and I’ll do what I can to get this “fee” back.

This is a review of unit 52 only. Chakas cove has 105 individually owned units, so this isn’t meant as a negative comment about the others. We booked and paid in full on 20 December 2025. Right after that, we were asked for a breakages deposit before check-in. We thought it was due in cash on arrival, but paid it anyway. Getting into the property was a mess. We called three times before being let in, then were told to use a lockbox because someone was supposedly going to meet us. The key wouldn’t open the door, so we had to wait for someone to come. A locksmith was arranged to change the lock, and on Wednesday we were told to leave for cleaning without anyone asking our permission. We lost a whole day because of these problems. At checkout, I’d been messaging the hosts since the night before. The same cleaner chased us out at 9:30, and we waited in the car until 10:30 for our deposit. Then we were told the hosts had another issue and couldn’t refund us until 2pm, and that we needed to leave. We finally got the deposit back at 17:40. I’m still amazed by all the defects, misinformation, and the lies the hosts told about checkout. It’s a beautiful place, but the way guests were treated was really low class. The pool isn’t on the accommodation premises. It’s across the extremely busy Ocean drive, up stairs, which the booking agent and host didn’t tell us. Also avoid this place if mobility is an issue.
