It was a partly cloudy, windy day when my wife, sister, and I visited the Umhlanga Pier. We sat on a lovely bench, ate our sandwiches, and looked out over the Oyster Box and Beverly Hills Hotel. A very pleasant visit.

Credit to the eThekwini Municipality: even in peak season, the beach and toilets stayed clean, and toilet paper was always available. Beachgoers had to wash their feet before using the facilities, which I thought was brilliant. The one thing I didn't like was the grumpy gentleman renting out the Vitality brollies.

A pleasant spot, though it can get really busy over the holidays. It's generally clean, and you can hire umbrellas 🌂, chairs, and other things while enjoying the beach with your family. There are a couple of restaurants right by the beach too. UIP checks that there's no alcohol on the beach.

There's no direct beach access from any of the hotels, which is interesting. Still, it's worth a visit for the sunshine and a swim, with several good restaurants nearby. Be patient with the service team.

A clean, well-kept family beach in a perfect spot, with plenty of amenities and shops close by. Lifeguards are around, and it's a great place to swim in the waves. I'd go in the morning to avoid the usual afternoon wind.
