I won't be going back tonight. I booked two nights for my Mom and me because she had to be at the hospital at 5.30am the next morning. She is 90, and after a sleepless night, she had to get up at 4am. The stay was a very poor experience from the outset. At night we drove up and down the road trying to find the place because there was no signage. No manager or owner was there, and we didn't feel expected. We had to ask for tea, milk, and soap, and there wasn't even bottled water in the rooms. The room itself was awful. The cupboard wouldn't shut, the drawers were misaligned and wouldn't close, and the tiny bathroom had no mirror, just a strange nail sticking out of a wooden plaque on the wall. The bedside tables were in shocking condition, there were holes in the walls, and the double bed had only one hard pillow on each side. There were no windows for fresh air. Under the TV, the tea station was an ugly jumble of plugs and cables.

This was a terrible stay. We checked in on the 29th of December, and only the cleaners were there, with no sign of the owner. After our eight-hour drive from Johannesburg, we could hardly sleep because the owner's family was so loud. We had two children with us, and they should consider that guests need rest. Some of the furniture was hazardous: cupboards were broken and had to be balanced when opened so they wouldn't fall. The eating utensils were dirty, and the towels had bleach stains and weren't washed daily. When the microwave was on, the wiring smelled like it was burning and we could smell the plugs. On New Year's Eve morning, the cleaners mentioned in passing that there would be a party with a DJ. Later we asked them to please end it by 1am since we had to drive back to Johannesburg. It went on until around 4am. We tried to support a black business, and unfortunately this felt like a slap in the face.

I had a great time here with my big family. The kitchen was well equipped, with enough clean crockery and cutlery, and the pool was warm for the kids. The rooms were clean, the staff were respectful and lovely, and everything else was immaculate. I'll definitely come back ❤️❤️❤️
