The Anchorage Wilderness

The welcome drinks on the deck at sunset were a real treat, and the kayaks for guests were great. I’d suggest picking a first-floor room for the wonderful lagoon views, then staying much longer than we did. We foolishly booked just one night, direct with the property well in advance, and paid in full about 3 months ahead. I needn’t have worried, everything was lovely: the property and room, the welcome, the helpful manager, breakfast and the location. You won’t regret giving yourself more time.

The garden was such a nice place to sit and watch the sunset, and we also loved playing board games in the beautiful lounge. We came for 2 days as a honeymoon treat, and wished we’d booked 3 nights so we could enjoy the facilities more. The location is charming and the quality throughout the b&b is superb. Breakfast was the best we’ve had in all our stays in SA, with fruit, cereals and cooked options. We had a lot of fun taking the free tandem kayaks down the kingfisher route. There’s plenty to do around wilderness too: we went canyoning with ‘fearless adventures’ and it was the best canyon we’ve ever been to, so beautiful. We’re also going climbing with the same tour guides (fearless adventures). There’s horse riding, hikes and tandem paragliding, and the restaurants in wilderness are amazing too, you Must visit them girls’. WiFi was fast and gave us no issues. Definitely worth staying a few days.

The balcony views were amazing, and it was quiet and peaceful. We spent our first few honeymoon nights here, and the hosts welcomed us like family. Breakfast was delicious and there are lots of attractions nearby. We’ll definitely stay here again.

The photos don’t do this wonderful B&B justice. Carol-Ann and I were smitten as soon as we walked into the lounge. Karen & Gert have a remarkable way of making you feel at home, like friends reconnecting after a long time. The thoughtful design, furnishings and layout feel both lived-in and classy. The Wilderness is my favourite destination, so I’ve decided to come back as often as I can. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
