The Pink Lodge on the Beach

We’d happily go back, as we enjoyed our visit. The beautiful house has what look like family heirlooms in the public rooms, and the garden is well kept. Our room had a magnificent view, and the breakfasts were special and varied. The bed was the letdown: two single mattresses on a double base that didn’t quite fit, and the pillows needed replacing.

Parking is outside, though the area is known to be safe. Everything else made for a thoroughly enjoyable stopover: the rooms were spotless, cozy and inviting, and the sea views were breathtaking. Management and staff were caring and added a personal touch that made us feel special. We can’t wait to visit again.

The couple running the place were nice, and the beachfront position and view are lovely. But the Seagull room was in serious disrepair and didn’t look like the room in the website photos. There was no bathroom door, so no privacy, and the room smelled damp. Black mould was visible on the lampshades and inside the warped cupboards; the skirting boards had rotted away. The outside light by the door had no bulb, making the very dark corridor difficult to navigate. The shower head was loose on the wall, as was the toilet. Worse, the shower didn’t drain. With the water turned all the way on, it backed up and flooded out of the bathroom into the tiled room, which was dangerous and ridiculous. This could be an amazing place if it were maintained and modernised. It needs some care and money spent on it.

The balcony had fantastic views, and breakfast came with another stunning view. The beach is great for kids, with lots of space and nice sand. We had a very pleasant stay at the Pink Lodge, with spacious rooms for our family of four and outstanding, super-friendly staff. The accommodation has a unique antique interior.
