The rooms could be much neater, and management needs to improve their condition. When I checked in, I found two large cockroaches on the shower mirrors. It was disturbing, and I worried there might be bedbugs too. It's a decent place otherwise, but definitely not worth the money.

The restaurant food was amazingly delicious, and the staff took excellent care of us. Everyone was very professional. I'd stay here again.

We reserved a family dinner for about 15 people at 7PM, and called the restaurant at 8AM that morning. We asked about a dinner buffet. They said they couldn't offer one for so few in-house guests, but that a buffet required payment for at least 20 people. Even though we were only 15, we paid the full 20-person amount and booked it. After we arrived, we waited until 8:30PM before anyone at our table got food. Fewer than five people had been served when staff said they had run out. Those who got food complained after seeing staff take chunks off other people's plates and put them back in the serving pan. We quietly asked the manager to hear our concerns, but he treated us like second-class citizens. Then we spent more than two hours trying to get a refund so we could find a meal somewhere else. It's disappointing how local customers are sometimes treated here. I've been to many hotels, including other Protea Hotel branches in Zambia, and have never been treated with such contempt. I don't know what went wrong between our booking and dinner, but I'm never going back.
