Lawrence was our guide, and his knowledge and contagious enthusiasm really made our time at Sussi and Chuma. Basadi took care of planning all our activities, and it was a pleasure getting to know Lezinah, who led the pantry and kitchen. We stayed three nights during a two week trip through South Africa and Zambia. The hotel was stunning, with luxurious rooms overlooking the Zambezi River, and wildlife wandering around the grounds. Everyone was wonderful, from the security guards and pantry and kitchen teams to the front of house staff. They were talented and among the nicest people you could meet. I can’t recommend the hotel and experiences enough.

The Zambezi River boat trip was fascinating. We spotted a few hippos, though the river was flowing very fast in June. In the game park there’s a white rhino and we saw some bull elephants, but it feels more like a public park. It’s a great place near Victoria Falls, with lodge amenities, friendly staff, and exceptional service.

Herbert was a brilliant guide, and the team made our time at Sussi and Chuma fantastic. We packed in lots of activities, including Victoria Falls and the Elephant sanctuary. On a nature walk, Herbert showed us animal tracks and flora, and the game drive was great, ending with a sighting of the White Rhinos. I also had a wonderful massage at the spa. Our room was gorgeous, with a great view of the Zambezi. We even spotted elephants from the walkway in the lodge area. Couldn’t recommend the stay more.

Bizwell looked after us so well each day and knew so much. We wanted to fit in everything we could, from an early visit to Victoria Falls to a nearby village and an afternoon game drive, and he made it happen. Every detail at the lodge was amazing. The staff, food, and accommodation were all beyond what we expected. It was beautiful, the kind of place Disney seems to draw inspiration from.

The highlight for me was walking with the White Rhinos, with armed security guards guiding us. Getting so close to wildlife on the game drives was amazing. There were also animals around our riverside room, especially bushbuck, warthogs, and vervet monkeys, with elephants and hippos seen occasionally. Because of the wildlife and raised walkways, security was always available and needed to walk us to and from the rooms after dark. The tree houses are gorgeous and luxurious, with all the amenities, and the food and presentation were excellent. We went on game rides on the Zambezi River and drives in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. The location is beautiful, the hospitality is lovely, and sunsets are gorgeous. We also took a guided canoe trip on the Zambezi in an inflatable craft with one other person. It was a little scary but thrilling. It’s a 30 minute trip from the lodge to the sundowner spot, then you ride back in a jeep. I got a little to moderately wet, so bring a Ziploc bag for your phone. I’d recommend Batoka Sky for a helicopter ride over Victoria Falls. Ours was 22 minutes, with six seats maximum besides the pilot, and included several circles around the falls and a ride down into the gorge.
