Eureka Camp

It's a great place, and I wish I could stay there longer. They do need to improve how they maintain and clean the pool.

A few things could use attention: mosquitoes are a serious problem, so repellents and insecticide dispensers would help, and the menu took forever to arrive. Service could be more polished too. The animal species are limited, though I may have seen Zebras, giraffes, monkeys, kudus, and some impala or kudu. Even with those issues, this is a fantastic place to relax, get fresh air, camp, build a team, write, or work on a project without interruptions. It's around 15-20 kms south of Lusaka CBD on Kafue road, in the quiet Makeni Bonaventure area, away from the city's hustle and bustle. The grounds are a decent size and attract tourists in transit and campers. You can see animals in the bush on one side, and horses in stables on the other, alongside a motocross area that hosts international competitions for different bike classes. For a small fee, there's a bar with a pool table and TVs, plus a small 1.3m deep pool that's more for cooling off than swimming. It also has nice ablutions, sleeping chalets, outdoor seating, a grill or braai area, and plenty of parking. I highly recommend it.

The grounds are beautiful and the staff are nice. Reception service was excellent, the food was pretty good and inexpensive, and there were plenty of drinks. The rooms are decent, though not in the best repair. Electricity was off most of the time because of load shedding, which wasn't the hotel's fault.

We always have a relaxing time here, and the managers are friendly and helpful. When we had vehicle trouble, they helped us from start to finish to make sure we were okay. David at the gate provided great security. The one downside was that without Zesco there was no water for an early morning coffee 🤪.
