Rest Guest House

The staff welcomed me warmly, and the rooms were clean. In some rooms, though, the bathroom and toilet sit in a cubicle inside the bedroom. The toilets were cleaned properly, but the drainage was poor. The geyser kept acting up for some reason, so I ended up showering in cold water. There were no air fresheners in the rooms.

The furniture feels makeshift, not the kind that makes you want to stay longer. Standards seem to be slipping.

I left as soon as I could. I’d arrived exhausted with my luggage and just wanted to check in and rest, but the receptionist was rude and began questioning why I’d come before noon. I’d called earlier and been told check-in was at 10am, so I explained that. She just shrugged and started tidying the reception as if I wasn’t there. I couldn’t take that disrespect when I only needed somewhere decent to sleep, so I walked out. I was looking for a place near the showgrounds, and had called to confirm the check-in time. Luckily, Island Lodge was only a block away. Their staff were professional and caring, the place was neat, and I loved the refreshing garden.

It’s a calm, pleasant place to unwind and get some rest, just as the name suggests.
