Willow Lodge seems like a comfortable, welcoming place in Harare, with pleasant rooms, good food, and attentive service. It sounds especially appealing in the cold weather.

The staff made the stay worthwhile, especially the chefs, who cooked beautifully and gave excellent service. My room was clean and tidy, and I enjoyed the lovely grounds, pool, lounge, TV areas, and birdsong. But I was stuck waiting for people from work who could only collect me after business hours. I checked out and the owner charged me for the night I hadn't stayed, plus the meals, even though my booking was Bed, Breakfast and Dinner.

It’s a lovely, quiet, clean place, and the cleaning staff and sous chef were gems. The food was okay, and I liked the honest bar. I’d have rated it higher if not for the preferential treatment. Someone could easily mistake it as being based on skin colour, though I’m a person of colour.

The staff are amazing, and the rooms are comfortable and exceptionally clean. It’s one of the best lodges in Harare in my opinion, with a beautiful garden and quiet surroundings.
