The game drives were great, and the food was delicious. Service was excellent too, which made this a lovely place to spend a few days in the bush. The downside is the lack of a clear smoking policy. Other guests may smoke in the dining areas, so you can end up breathing their second-hand smoke.

The lake shore picnic at sunset was a lovely photo opportunity, and we had fun fishing too. Our rooms felt modern while still fitting the surroundings, and the atmosphere was really relaxing. Cloud was a very knowledgeable guide on the game drive. Joyce looked after us exceptionally well, and the other servers were warm and kind throughout. From the welcome onward, it was a wonderful visit. I can't sum it up any better than to highly recommend a stay.

My partner and I have just come back from Bumi Safari Lodge, already thinking about going again. It was the perfect safari getaway for us.

That outdoor shower, the room views, and one banging meal after another made this an epic stay. The cool water was lovely for a dip after lunch, and Chef Sunshine makes a carrot cake like nobody else. Cloud or Tatenda on a game drive is quite an experience, and fishing with Tatenda had us laughing the whole time. Joyce was like a warm embrace from an old friend. She was thoughtful and stayed up as long as we did. Matthias kept my room in stellar shape, with everything in place and topped up before I even needed to ask. They also made a special birthday cake and sang for us. We danced and laughed so much. The attention to guests and their personal preferences was really something. I'd gladly come back again and again.

The lake views and wildlife below take the place of the usual TV and wifi, and that made the whole stay feel peaceful and restorative. Bumi is a lovely five-star lodge in the hills overlooking vast Kariba lake. The rooms and shared spaces are carefully done with beautiful African artifacts and style, and the staff pay close attention to the details. I especially loved the outdoor shower. It was a serene escape, and we were thoroughly spoiled.
