The staff at Old Drift Lodge were dedicated, knowledgeable, and focused on our needs. For a lodge with only 14 rooms, the teamwork and logistics were remarkable, and everyone we dealt with was attentive. As we left, I felt especially grateful. I’ve never thanked people so wholeheartedly before. Our safari guides, Ausa and Fanuel, shared so much about nature and gave us memorable experiences. Amanda from the office briefed us on arrival and was very helpful. Wilma handled our booking and arrival arrangements wonderfully. Our waiter’s name escapes me, but it starts with MTH, and Abias, our driver, were both professional and attentive. Well done to everyone, and please keep up the great work.

Every staff member went out of their way to be friendly and welcoming. The accommodation was beautifully designed and fit naturally into the surroundings, with breathtaking views and a real eye for detail. Old Drift Lodge was one of the best experiences of my life. The comfort, service, and setting all exceeded our expectations. It captures the magic of Victoria Falls and the warmth of its people. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

We stayed two nights at Old Drift Lodge and wished we had longer. Its food, hospitality, wildlife, views, and very comfortable accommodation stand up to anywhere we’ve travelled around the world, including places costing two or three times as much. In Vic Falls, if you can afford it, book without a second thought. It’s a world-class property by any measure, not just compared with local competition. Thanks to the whole team, and sorry I accidentally tried to take my room key!

Amanda, the manager, took us under her wing during our three nights in Victoria Falls. She treated us like royalty, kept an eye on our schedule and activities, and made sure we had what we needed. Fanuel was a treasure of a guide, full of knowledge about wildlife, birds, and plants. He knows the Falls and the river, led us on beautiful sunrise and sunset cruises, and was always kind and smiling. Rejoice, the masseuse, was a wonderful surprise. Her hot stone massage was spectacular, so don’t miss out on her if you can. The Old Drift Lodge website photos show the Zambezi River setting and beautiful guest cottages, but not the hospitality and experiences the staff and guides provide. I’d been to Africa before, but Zimbabwe was new for me, and it won’t be my last visit. I travelled with my two great nephews, aged 18 and 21, and their parents. We all agreed that the lodge, game drives, and trip to Victoria Falls were highlights of our African journey. We had first-class service, incredible adventures, and delicious food throughout our stay.

My husband and I spent a couple of nights here on our honeymoon, and it was easily the most honeymoon-like accommodation of our trip. The rooms are insane! Everyone was lovely, from the airport pickup and boat ride to the lodge to the managers, housekeepers, and waiting staff. Fanuel was an excellent guide. On two evening river safaris we saw lots of birds, hippos, crocs, and an elephant, and we also went on a morning game drive. The guides escort you to and from your accommodation in the dark, and took us to and from the helicopter ride too. He was brilliant at spotting wildlife and sharing facts, and it was sweet to see how passionate he was about the animals. He takes his own camera everywhere and still often takes photos. We really wish we’d stayed longer and would highly recommend it.
