Hotel Papa

Our seven-day holiday was wonderful. The sea was clean, the pools were excellent, and the food was varied and tasty. The cottages had everything necessary, and the property was clean. Linens were changed several times. A special thank-you to the maid Aida for her care and attention. The cleaning was always thorough, the staff were polite, and the entertainer Tatyana was simply great, with good programs for both children and adults. For 37,000 rubles, 10 days, and four people, this was a very good deal. The new cottages were spotless and had everything, including robes and slippers. The air conditioning, kettle, and refrigerator worked, and the heated pool was a real plus. The food was good, and for me the whole trip was mainly about eating and sleeping, which I can't easily do at home while working and feeding three men. At a higher high-season price, though, I wouldn't recommend it. There are many cottages packed very close together, with little greenery and no real recreation area, gazebo, tennis, billiards, or proper playground. The beach has no canopy, and apart from the cottage or the sea, there isn't much to do. A few days would be fine, but a longer stay could become boring. There are only two swings for children, so families should keep that in mind. A second unheated pool was opened, but even two small pools may be too few for this many houses. Our cottage had no internet, so I used a nearby one. In the evenings, children had face painting by the pool. Sun loungers and umbrellas were available, and beach towels were provided in the room. Cars could be rented on site for 2,500 rubles per day to see the sights. Thanks again, we enjoyed the stay.

Wonderful! After 12 years of vacations, I have something to compare it with, and this was the best. The hotel is right by the sea, the food is excellent, and they fed us like close relatives, so now I'm afraid to step on the scales. The staff and conditions are great too. The two pools are a real help while the sea is still cold. One is heated, so you can swim even on a chilly day or in the evening. May prices are fantastic, it seems the food for four people alone would cost more. In the hot season, however, the price is 3-4 times higher.

We're staying at "Papa Dom" hotel, the one closest to the sea. "Papa" and "Eco-Papa" are nearby too. The small cabins are pleasant and have air conditioning, good water pressure, and hot and cold water. Three meals a day are included. Four-bed cabins exist and are a little larger, but they may feel cramped and hot, so separate cabins might be better. There is no kettle in the cabin. Hot boiled water is available only at mealtimes, while the rest of the day we use filtered cooler water at the bar. The bar had a kettle, but it burned out quickly. There is also no lamp or nightlight, so the room is very dark and we leave the toilet light on. The route to the sea is only a two-minute walk, but cows often use the beach and leave dung along the path. Public transport to Gudauta is infrequent, making taxis more practical. Prices are high too. Peaches and nectarines cost 180/200 rubles per kg, like in Kazan, where they can even be cheaper, and watermelons are 30/40 rubles per kg. On the positive side, the staff are helpful and the entertainer is good. Our son received birthday congratulations, which we appreciated. The water is fresh and caused no stomach pain, laundry costs 200 rubles per load, and the food is fresh and good quality. The hotel's fenced beach is quiet, spacious, and not crowded, with loungers available. The pool is clean and reportedly cleaned every evening. There are many excursions, including hotel pickup.
