Mercure Andorra

For two nights at Mercure Andorra, I found the room clean and spacious, with a comfortable bed. At such a competitive price, there isn't much to complain about. It is worth remembering that this isn't a new building, so there are fewer charging plugs than in newer hotels. Also, since it is pet friendly, barking dogs may be part of the stay.

The spa was good, with a sauna and steam bath, and the clean room had a comfortable bed, so we slept very well. The hotel is in the city center, and check-in and check-out were quick and uncomplicated. The staff were friendly. Breakfast had plenty of options and was very good. Some room bookings include a coffee and tea station and a free water bottle, depending on the type of room. The parking is shared by Novotel and Mercure. It was full, so we drove to the public parking behind the hotel and waited a short time, as the area was especially busy during the Christmas market.

This is a convenient base between the old town and the busy city centre, with friendly, helpful staff and reasonable prices. The spacious rooms have large beds and decent bathrooms, although the hotel's age shows. There are no sockets beside the bed, and one socket in my room did not work. The TV has only a few channels and is not smart, while the lobby vending machine accepts cash only. The wellness area is very nice, with several whirlpools and regular swimming pools. It is odd that hotel guests must pay two euros for the lockers, unless they are willing to leave their things in the room. The gym has plenty of cardio and weight equipment but feels dated. Breakfast is a standard international buffet with generally good food, though the coffee from the old machine needs improvement. For exploring the capital, it offers solid value.

The spa and pool facilities are lovely, although I slipped on the wet floor and badly hurt my back and elbow, so be careful. The lockers also require a €2 coin, which seems unusual for a higher-class venue. Parking was expensive, with no discount for high-level ALL status members who are often entitled to free parking. The parking attendants were also unhelpful when we tried to resolve a problem. The hotel itself is central and quiet, with friendly staff, but the tired rooms make it feel closer to three stars than four.
