Borda del Pi

The views make this an especially beautiful place, and the food is just as impressive. I tried the vegetable soup, pork stew, shrimp croquettes, apple pie, and coffee, and every single thing was divine. I'd recommend it to families, couples, and pretty much anyone.

Booking is advisable because Borda del Pi is deservedly popular. We had a sunny but breezy Friday lunch there on September 1st, and the staff welcomed us warmly, including Mikey, our dog. They kindly let us sit inside because the people outside looked a little cold. The lamb ribs were so good, and the Secreto pork was delicious too. We spent a couple of relaxed hours eating, then had a drink at the outdoor cocktail bar while taking in the stunning views. Afterward we walked through this wild, unspoiled part of Andorra, which reminded me of Dartmoor, only higher. Hubby and I had a wonderful, relaxing time and will definitely return.

The breakfast was divine, and the hosts were incredibly accommodating. What really stays with you, though, are the beautiful vistas. La Borda del Pi has an authentic rustic charm high in the mountains, reached by a mountain adventure from Canillo through wonderfully bucolic surroundings. We'll return.

The recreated borda is charming, the valley is beautiful, and the food is decent, but the management and lack of care for guests overshadow those positives. Our reservations were canceled just before Christmas with no apology or consideration, which I found unacceptable. I had celebrated my wedding here and expected the place to remain special, so the later experience was especially disappointing. It may work for a coffee, a photograph, or a short walk with a pleasant view. For service, responsibility, and respect toward guests, though, it falls well short. Disappointed.
