Hotel Cal Ruiz

The buffet at breakfast and dinner has a lot of variety, so there’s something for everyone. We also liked having a communal space where groups could relax, and the bar was an especially good bargain. The building is older and can be noisy, but our room was clean and the staff were friendly. Great value overall.

The beds were comfortable, breakfast was really good, and the interior felt nicer than at other places in Andorra. The price was great too. It did get very hot at night, so lowering the heating would help. I’d definitely recommend it.

The two rooms we had were so tiny they felt more like closets, and the thin walls meant we could hear neighbors using the bathroom. The ski lockers are directly outside the rooms, so people coming back from apres-ski after midnight can be very loud. The hotel feels dated despite a few small refurbishments, and the breakfast was extremely basic, as if the chef lacked either imagination, budget, or both. The week began with an extremely rude blonde receptionist who looked around 60, and dealing with her was unpleasant every time. There are many reviews mentioning her attitude, yet nothing seems to have changed. We’d happily return to Pas de la Casa, but not to this hotel.

We didn’t stay at the hotel, but while visiting Andorra with family we had a wonderful buffet lunch there. It was far better than the average buffet we’re used to in the UK. My husband especially liked the paella with snails and said the octopus was delicious. Highly recommended.
