Hotel Vall Ski

Breakfast was delicious and made a great start to our days on the slopes. The staff at Hotel Vall Esquí were consistently warm, attentive, and happy to help, so we felt well looked after throughout the stay. The hotel is also very conveniently placed a short distance from the ski resort, which made the winter trip easy. We had a fantastic stay last week and would definitely return to Hotel Vall Esquí.

It was a clean place with nice food and good facilities, and the staff were particularly friendly and helpful. The shuttle to the hull was useful, but arranging the return was frustrating because you had to book a time. A service every half hour might make planning the day easier, or perhaps having two or three shuttle buses running to and from the slopes would help.

The hotel is inexpensive, clean, and the staff are excellent and friendly. Breakfast is a straightforward continental spread, although there should really be another coffee machine because the morning queues were huge. Dinner was the worst hotel food I've ever had. The chef did try to accommodate my vegetarian diet, but most of the evening dishes contained meat. Putting extra cheese on a pizza with hot raw onion inside just made a sickening mess. I wanted to explain how to make a simple pizza or vegetarian meal, but eventually couldn't be bothered. If you're vegetarian, the cafe next to the Harp in Soldeu got it right immediately, with simple, honest food. I might stay here again if pushed, but I wouldn't pay for the evening meal. Given the cheap accommodation, I'd use the hotel as a base and eat out at night.

The place is comfortable enough and the staff are quite nice, though the meals could use more variety. The real problem is the internet. If you need a stable connection to get work done, forget it. You might as well enjoy the snow and hope your job is still there when you get home.
