Hotel Sucarà

Hotel Sucara gave our trip the strongest start. We had to leave for the weekend because of short notice, and although the replacement place looked impressive, it didn’t compare with Hotel Sucara’s service or location. This is a real family hotel, not the Ritz, with clean rooms, good heating and extremely hot water with strong pressure. We stayed in room 101 with three single beds. Parking was easy, dogs are welcome and even have a place to eat, and both the food and service were good. With only limited French and Spanish, I was welcomed warmly in English and treated like a valued customer.

The people working here are lovely and the service around food and drinks is great. There was a cigarette smell in the room at first, but it disappeared after a day or two. The location is the weak point because there are no shops within walking distance.

This feels like home to me now in Andorra, after three trips. The hosts and staff are chatty, welcoming and knowledgeable, while the building stays warm and clean. Room 104 is our usual room because of its large bath, and the water remains hot even when the hotel is full. The shower has loads of pressure, the sink is deep, the bathroom is well ventilated without being cold, and the heating is excellent. The maids leave the room spotless and even fold clothes left on the floor during the morning rush for freshly groomed powpow at 9am. Food is very good and reasonably priced, the bar has a huge drinks range, and the coffee is beautiful. There’s a pleasant river walk behind the hotel, and the location is ideal for ski activities. The new Wi-Fi system uploaded a 10gb video to social media in under a minute last year. For working from home on a budget, this is blinding. I’d only add a small room fridge for milk. Also, the bathroom hair dryer is genuinely powerful, as good as mine at home for my very long hair. Shout out to Bruno, who speaks super English too.

For a family of three adults and two children, the apartment worked very well, with two rooms in the same apartment. The rooms were clean and spacious, there was private parking, and the location suited us between the ski area and andora la vela. The daily menu was great value, especially over christmass, and the food was very good. Staff were friendly. The heating worked extremely well, perhaps a little too well for me, but I wouldn’t call that a general problem.
