Hotel Austria by Pierre & Vacances

Hotel Austria is conveniently close to the slopes, with a free shuttle to and from Grau Roig every 10-20 minutes throughout the day. Public bus stops are a minute away, and two rental shops are nearby. The hotel restaurant is useful since the town has only one other dining option. The receptionists were all kind and helpful, and ski lockers are provided. My only issue was the noise from the open stairwells, although things usually became quiet by 10pm.

The location is great and the staff are fantastic. Lidia was especially friendly and helped my friend with his rusty Spanish, while also adding a really good atmosphere. The hiring managers deserve credit for putting together such an excellent team. I’d recommend the hotel to anyone.

We had such a brilliant stay. The staff were warm, friendly and ready to help with anything, big or small. They were especially thoughtful with the food intolerances in our group and went out of their way to make sure everyone was catered for. The rooms are simple but clean, the food is good, and the bar team are lovely. It’s only a short drive to the slopes, too. We’d happily come back.

The staff were kind and helpful, and the location works fairly well since you can walk to the Peretol sector. For other areas, though, you’ll need a bus. The biggest issue was the noise. Groups of around 50 children stayed at the hotel, and some adults were just as disruptive. People came in late, woke others up, or left early and made noise. The soundproofing is basically nonexistent, so it felt more like a hostel than a standard three-star European hotel. Anyone expecting that level may be disappointed. The booking information mentioned twin rooms, but we were told on arrival that only doubles were available. Dinner also wasn’t worth the price. Some dishes seemed like ready-made supermarket meals that had been frozen, although other food was fine.
