The location is fantastic, just opposite the main gondola, and the lounge is cosy. Food was really nice, and every member of staff we met was friendly and helpful. The rooms need some work, though. My wife’s room had a radiator with no thermostat, so it was either boiling or completely off, and the window rattled in the wind. In my room with my son, the door didn’t fit properly, so there was no sound insulation from the corridor. Both showers soaked the entire bathroom. Still a good stay overall, but the rooms need a few practical improvements.

Breakfast service was a real highlight. Esther and Junior were so friendly each morning, keeping the tables clean and making an effort with lovely egg dishes. There are also some excellent restaurants behind the hotel where we had dinner. The slopes are fairly close, with the cabin lift about 200 metres away, taking you to the top of the mountain and into the Grandvalira system. We stayed six nights at Hotel Himalaya and liked the room, although the bathroom was worn and far too hot because the radiator couldn’t be switched off. We’re very happy with our stay.

The service was excellent for us as gluten-free guests. They provided GF muffins and croissants, and there was plenty of very good meat available. The desserts were amazing too. Esther in the restaurant was particularly lovely, always smiling and spreading positivity. The gondola is only about a three-minute walk away, which was fantastic. Our room was nice, although we could hear nighttime noise and flushing water through the walls. That may have been specific to our room, and earplugs would help. Apart from the disturbed sleep, it was a good experience.

The location is hard to beat, close to the gondola and surrounded by nightlife and restaurants. Front desk staff were also excellent and very helpful whenever we had questions. Breakfast was a highlight, with plenty of choice and everything needed before a day on the slopes. We stayed at the Himalaia for a long ski weekend and had a very good time. I’d probably skip the wellness area, though, as I didn’t think it was worth the €12. Everything else was excellent.

Our room was kept in perfect condition throughout the stay. It was clean, well arranged and prepared with obvious care, and the whole accommodation was comfortable and finished to a high standard. AMALIA, the housekeeper, deserves particular praise. She looked after our room for the entire visit and did an outstanding job. Her attention to detail made the stay even more comfortable. We had a wonderful experience at Hotel Himàlaia Soldeu and would be very happy to return. Veronika from Prague
