Marriott Hotel Downtown, Abu Dhabi

My experience at Marriott Downtown Abu Dhabi was very disappointing. I visited around 4:30-5:00 PM to discuss an Iftar gathering for my family after an earlier phone call about availability and pricing had produced no reply. Reception told me these matters were handled only by phone, then said nobody was available when I asked for clarification. The number they gave me could not be reached, and they offered no alternative. I even asked whether I could view the restaurant space before leaving, but was firmly told no because it was closed. It felt like every effort to proceed was being blocked. A different receptionist eventually stepped in, called the sales executive, and asked me to wait. He was calm and helpful, and the sales executive later apologized. When I raised the issue with the original receptionist, she became defensive, told me to “mind my tone,” and said she could complain about me. As a potential event client, I expected assistance, not resistance. The valet staff showed more concern by asking if everything was okay. This was about attitude, communication, and professionalism, not simply availability. Management should review the reception conduct during that time, provide a clear process for in-person inquiries, and address how potential event clients are treated.

My family enjoys coming here for leisure whenever we can. The rooms are neat and comfortable, the staff are hospitable, kind, and professional, and the food is varied and delicious. It is also in the city center, with convenient transport, facilities, markets, and Al Wahda mall nearby. One of the best ☆☆☆☆☆ hotels in Abu Dhabi, UAE!

The spacious room had two comfortable queen size beds, plus both a tub and a shower in the washroom. Since we were on a high floor, the view was excellent. Breakfast was tasty and offered plenty of choices. The staff were kind and helpful, although check-in was a bit late. One of the cards we received at reception also wasn't activated, so we had to go back downstairs to fix it. Even so, I highly recommend this hotel for a staycation in Abu Dhabi.

We returned to our suite during our anniversary stay to find sweets and fresh fruits arranged as a welcome surprise. It really made the day feel special. Richal, our housekeeper, also made a big difference. She was caring, attentive, and thoughtful about making sure we had what we needed. Her excellent service helped make the celebration memorable.
