Al Khaleej Palace Deira Hotel

The location is great, and the room amenities look good. The rooms are costly at around 270-300 AED, or 5000-7000 rupees, and at that price they don’t feel worth booking. I didn’t feel welcome. There was no water or welcome drink at check-in, and no wet towel. The reception staff looked burdened, and the manager interrupted the guest check-in while asking whether tap water was a crime in this hotel. The basin tap in room 703 had been taped up and needs replacing.

There are two bars, one on the 10th floor and another on the ground floor, and you can’t sleep here at all until morning. The rooms aren’t clean either. I wouldn’t recommend staying here, especially for families. Absolutely not family-friendly.

I’m extremely unhappy with this stay. There’s no pool access, the spa was really bad, and the whole experience felt like a waste of almost 500 AED. On arrival, the butler didn’t help with our bags or hold the door. I’d left my wallet in the room in a hurry because of an emergency at home. At first they kept saying there was no wallet, then, after I tried many times, they said they’d found it and that I had to come collect it. They also charged me double the price and wouldn’t even include breakfast. My booking was for a double room because that was all they advertised, but they refused when I messaged and asked in person for a bed for two. They were slow to answer both calls and messages. The ladies at the spa demanded tips even though we’d paid the full price. My body hurt the next day after the massage. The woman massaging my partner offered him genital services; when he refused, she kept walking in and out of the room and didn’t give him a proper, normal massage as regular therapists would. Breakfast took almost 45 minutes to arrive, and the chicken had no flavour. When we later went out, we asked room service to clean up. They made the beds but left the food trays and didn’t put soap in the bathroom. I’d asked for soap on my way out.

Housekeeping was efficient and polite, and room service brought quick, tasty food. The laundry was effective and reasonably priced too. Staff were helpful and humble, and the service was outstanding. There can be some noise from a few clubs in the building, so I’d suggest asking for a room on a middle floor to reduce the disruption. The accommodation is excellent value for business travellers.
