Dubai International Hotel

For a transit stop, the biggest advantage of Dubai International Hotel is its location inside Dubai International Airport (DXB), between gates B17 and B20. That means no immigration queues, taxis, or city traffic to deal with during a long layover. The rooms are surprisingly spacious for an airport hotel, quiet, and well designed, with comfortable beds, rainfall showers, and blackout curtains. The soundproofing does a great job despite the busy airport all around. The G-Force Health Club is a welcome way to recharge, with a pool, jacuzzi, sauna, and massage services. There are also food options in the level 3 food court. Staff are generally professional and efficient with tired travelers and tight schedules, and check-in and checkout are smooth. The price can be high compared with hotels in the city. For a short stop, though, the time saved and the chance to rest can make the cost worthwhile. It's more about convenient, stress-free travel than luxury for its own sake.

The person who met me after I got off the plane took me to the hotel, and the whole process was smooth. Check-in and checkout were both express, and the room had five-star amenities, including room service, bathrobes, a shaving kit, a shoehorn, a safe, and a gym. Everyone I dealt with, from the greeter to the checkout staff, made things easy. There are three hotel locations. Once you have gone through security and customs, you can't go back to check in, so keep that in mind. If I have a long layover in Dubai again, I'll stay here.

Short on fresh air, but it has what you'd expect from an airport hotel. The hotel covers the two upper floors around Terminal 3 gates B and C, and you can use facilities at both. The lifts are at B15 and C15. There's a spa at B and a lounge restaurant at C. The food is good, though alcohol has to be paid for separately, so it's better to buy it at duty free. The pool is fine and heated. The steam room and tiny jacuzzi are working, but the sauna was out of order. Rooms are a good size, but the windows are tiny and the AC pumps in airport air. Fine if you're tired and just need a bed.

We had a six-hour layover, arriving in Dubai at 1 am, and decided to book this hotel. You can reserve a stay starting from three hours, which is handy. The rooms are really nice, huge, and stocked with everything you need. The kids got a good rest, and it was worth it. Staff were helpful and great. If you're on your way to Makkah for Umrah, this seems like a good place to freshen up and put on Ighram. I'd recommend booking here over sitting around the airport for six hours.
